Hollis Hickerson

Hollis Hickerson is a multidisciplinary artist working in fiber arts and illustration, practices united by themes of transformation and identity. Whether felting raw wool or illustrating character-driven imagery, Hollis seeks to reveal the textures of personal and collective experience, inviting reflection on how social constructs, perception, and connection shape our identities. They received Rhode Island State Council on the Arts’ Make Art and Community Engaged Project grants for felted workshops and artist talks in 2023 and 2024. In 2025, they exhibited in Don’t Be Absurd at The CAMP Gallery in Miami during Art Basel Miami.

Teaching and collaboration are inseparable from their practice. Over the past decade, Hollis has led workshops across New England for students of all ages and backgrounds, emphasizing hands-on experimentation in fiber arts, printmaking, papermaking, and bookbinding. Hollis believes that engaging directly with materials makes creating a form of empowerment: a reminder that art is a tool available to everyone.
